The expected beneficial applications of n-CeO₂. n-CeO₂ can act as a pro-oxidant in acidic conditions and an antioxidant in a neutral environment. These properties make n-CeO₂ an ideal therapeutic that is toxic to cancer cells without damaging normal cells. In addition, n-CeO₂ showed antiapoptotic effects while increasing insulin secretion.
