Number of named fishing sites (toponyms) recorded at each 1-ha cell within each community fishing ground (A-H) and globally (I) in the study area. The comprehensive delimitation threshold (90%) of the fishing sites was used (see Methods for details). Village numbers correspond to Ambohitsabo (1), Besakoa (2), Mahavatsy 2 (3), Ankiembe-bas (4), Mahavatsy 1 (5), Ankiembe-haut (6), Ankilibe (7), and Sarodrano (11).
